Will DYLON work on acrylic?

The answer is: none. Synthetic fabrics cannot be dyed with either DYLON Dye – they just won’t hold the colour.

Can you paint with DYLON dye?

Dissolve a packet of DYLON Hand Dye in 500ml of warm water, for every colour that you would like to use and fill a bowl with warm water. Dip the paintbrush in the water then paint over the initial point, applying varying strokes.

You really do need to use a fixative with your Dylon Cold dye. You can buy their fixative, or you can get some soda ash (sodium carbonate) from a swimming pool supply store. The optimum reaction temperature for Drimarene K dyes is 40 to 60°C, depending on the dye color, which translates to 104°F to 140°F.

Do you need to use salt with Dylon?

You need to use salt with all Dylon dyes except Wash & Dye and Machine Dye with Salt (salt is already included in the both products) because it opens up the pores of the fabric and allows the dye to be absorbed properly.

Is RIT or Dylon better?

DYLON will not harm your washing machine. The staining will not affect following washing loads. You are advised to follow the instructions in the pack and to clean the machine with a separate empty wash cycle (40°) after dyeing.
